19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a former world number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
It is his initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from spring of that year.
Success also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
His defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.
However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better service.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
